3D Cel shading Animation Birdlife
Birdlife asked me to create a suitable animation for their new campaign where they focus on "het waddengebied"; a mudflat region in The Netherlands where a large amount of different beautiful bird species can be seen.
I proposed a cel shading style, which is a 3D animation in somewhat of a 2D / flat design look. Despite liking this, I felt it could use a little more depth, I added this through using some depth of field. Besides depth this also pulled the whole atmosphere of the animation into a more dreamy kind of visual style, I tried to boost this even more by using a lot of flying camera motion, again bringing back some 3D feel to finally reach the right balance between the two.
It was a fun project.
